Decorating with the queen of spring flowers
For this, we dipped hyacinth bulbs in wax and put them together with our Linen napkin and our tissue napkin „Duet in Spring“ to create a beautiful, nature-inspired decoration.
Here’s how to make the DIY wax onion trend at home
1 Remove a few sprouted hyacinths from the pot and carefully remove the soil.
2 Place the bulbs in water overnight so that they can soak completely.
3 Dab the bulbs the next day and, if necessary, shorten the roots to a few millimetres with scissors.
4 We recommend using leftover candles for the wax. This will give your burnt-out candles a second chance. We used leftovers from our lanterns for this.
Heat the candle wax of your choice in a water bath until it is liquid and let it cool down a bit.
Then dip the bulb into the wax bath and repeat the process until you like the wax layer.
Make sure that the wax is not too hot, otherwise you will damage the flower.
5 Place the waxed bulbs on baking paper to dry. This way they can be easily removed later.
– Your waxed hyacinths are ready for your table decoration or for giving as a gift.
Tip: If you want coloured wax, you can easily dye the candle wax with a few drops of food colouring in your favourite colour.
